In celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. the Eastern Monroe Public Library is pleased to present King in the Wilderness as part of its “Words and Film” series. The presentation will take place on Monday, January 20th at 2pm at Hughes Library, 1002 North 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA, 18360. Admission is free and open to the public.
Through personal stories of the people who were around him, this documentary film follows Martin Luther King, Jr. during the last years of his life: from the passage of the Voting Rights Act in 1965 to his assassination in 1968. This period, which is largely left out of the history books, provides a clear window into King’s character, as a man with an unshakeable commitment to nonviolence in the face of an increasingly unstable country.
